INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS
ACCURACY IS FLIGHTING'S FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS
Australian Bulk Handling Review - April/May 1997
As the demand on screw conveyors increases, fabricators are under constant pressure to produce larger capacity units and, in particular, the sort of screw flighting which can cope with an increasing array of rugged applications.

Keeping pace with these demands is one of Australia's most dedicated manufacturers of screw flighting, Scott Spiral Pty. Ltd. of Victoria.
While the company produces vast quantities of flighting for bulk handling applications, the efficiency of their product is perhaps best illustrated by their application in another area, namely that of screwpiles for the construction industry. In this field the helix (screw flight) needs to be of highly consistent and accurate pitch to avoid damage and excessive time delay during installation.
One of Australia's leading producers and installers of screwpiles, Piletech Australia, has selected Scott Spiral to produce their helixes. According to Piletech's Mr. Dale Anderson the decision was made after considerable effort to find a manufacturer who could be relied on "to supply a consistently high quality product on time and at the right price".
Screwpiles are increasingly used in the foundations industry to screw structures firmly to the ground. They are commonly replacing grout injection, concrete bored piers and driven systems. To handle a job as tough as this, the screw flights must be robust and of accurate pitch.
Scott Spiral is currently using its local achievements as a springboard into overseas markets. At the recent bulk handling exhibition in Singapore, two test rigs showing Scott Spiral's screw conveying systems attracted a great deal of interest and the company has now appointed Rap Engineers to represent them there. They are also negotiating representation in other states and New Zealand, with ETA Pty Ltd. recently appointed in Queensland.
